After running all the expense numbers with my father I have come to the conclusion that the car will put me too close to my budget limit for my liking, therefore I will be unable to purchase the car from you. Please know I would have very much liked to have bought your GT it is a fine car. I will still however, be able to help you with the parts swap.

I am interested in one of two GTP's that I have looked and will be purchasing one soon. Gentlemen watchout there's going to be a 13sec, V6 real soon.

GTP's run 14.9 to 15 flat stock, so it wouldn't be too hard to push 13's.

I'll never go with a front wheel drive car for fun. Maybe for economy, but not for fun.

Don't rule out a focus if you are going cheap. Precision makes a turbo kit for around $3K. A Jackson blower can also be had for a little less money. That would eat most of the muscle cars in this club.

People spend 10k on muscle cars to shave one second and u think that u can easily shave 2 seconds off a front wheel drive, 4 dr sedan, non muscle vehicle......have fun.

I like the new GTP tho.........I heard good things about them.

GTP is supercharged... the may have pulley swaps available, that can cause a good jump in power.

they do have pulley swaps availiable and i have heard about some GTP's running in the 12's on street tires... Granted who knows how long the motor held up like that.. but i can definately see it being possible, ecpsecially in the 2-door versions.

 Brad, the GTP can be fast and is nice as heck ecspecailly with all the cool features.... like a HUD  what year ?

Come on guys we all know Eddie is a big man behind his computer but when we're face to face he won't say shit.

Drop it eddie. BTW I thought you of all people would be happy that I'm not buying a ford.

Will: It wil be a 2002,and with a reflashed ECU, pulley, exhaust, and cold air, I've seen many 2 and 4 doors smoke my ass and run 13.8-13.9 at a little over 100. Chris's mom's white 98 GTP will go 14.6-14.7 in its stock form.

shit with a good 60 foot i know it will got 14.4-14-6 anyday BONE STOCK with only 6 pounds of boost. thats all they run. No offense brad but in a good race i can pull him by maybe 1-2 car lengths and he already runs a 14.6. Imagine if i could ice the blower down and run it in around 50 degree weather. The guys at QTP performance got a 2001 GTP to run 14.19 @ 100 MPH with a cold air kit and a QTP cut out. thats all. now that sounds fast enough to smoke a few stangs in the club. In the latest HIGH Performance Pontiac there is a guy running a stock blower into the Mid 12's and another running a protype blower running 11.2's.
 GTP

GTPs are only a pulley change and a few small mods away from 13s. It's pretty common. Sweet cars.

Brad..........I ain't hiding behind my computer........I can't remember how many times I gave u ideas for a new car. I ain't putting the GTP down in anyway, but I don't think thats the car u wont. The car is not built to goto the track in anyway, shape, or form. Do people take them to the track? u damn right they do.......just like any Civic with a fart exhaust thinking 17s in a 1/4 mile is fast............u can take anything u want to the track but that doesn't mean its fun and fast. I don't know much about the GTP, but if it was so easy to take them down to 13s then everybody and his first cuz would buy one............or we would at least see them at the track going that fast. At SLP day there were only few doing 13s and only one doing 12s. The car is aimed at an older generation X, which are people in their 30s and older. Just think how many GTPs u will see on the road after GM starts rolling them out of delerships.
I have a feeling that u are getting frustrated finding a car that u like. In my opinion U need a car that grabs some attention, have potential to mod, and fun to drive. The GTP will get boring after a while and u wont have any interest moding it coz it was never designed to be moded. The Neon wasn't a bad idea, but I still think that u r not looking good enough coz u r in hurry to get something new. Chris picked up his 02 Z28 with factory warranty for about 16k, the SVT Focus is a nice ride and have lots of potential, and the Neon wasn't a bad idea. Also watch for the new Mazda 3 for about 18k built on the Focus platform and share the same motor. Also, and u gonna hate me for this, but Saturn have a new blown Ion coupe called the Red line. Its built on the Delta platform as the new Cobolt replacing the Cavelier will be.

Just do some research and look around don't settle for anything, u will hate it later on.

yes Brad Eddie is dead on here. If you are going to get the GTP you are much better off with your Merc. Don't jump from the pot to the frying pan here. Listen to Eddie, that big Vin Diesel may be right once in a while.

You don't see many modded (i.e. 13's) GTP's because Pontiac doesn't market the Grand Prix to the young and willing racing audience. Its the larger, cruising family car. However, those that DO know the potential that the GTP option has, and those that have the funds, CAN make those things damn fast. And I don't think you can compare a 14 second car to a 17 second civic and get away with it. I thought everyone knew already that the 14-second timeslip is the most underappreciated slip of all.

Ponyperformance6
09-23-2003, 1:42 AM
Brad... do what is going to make you the happiest and what you think would be the most fun and the most unique for you man... when it domes down to all of that, timeslips don't really matter.

Eddie is right, you are going to hate the GTP after about 2 weeks. Besides it is going to be damn near impossible to find one without a queer gear.

Not all of us are running 21 second quarter miles with their manuals. I don't honestly think their is enough difference between the two to warrant buying one over the other. But this is not about the 1320, this is about a daily driver.
