It's not for my jeep, it's for my motorcycle. I tried to repaint the false gas tank and did a piss poor job. Tried it like 3 times and never got it to my liking. I fear that if I keep trying it too much longer i'll need to have some bodywork done on it to repair all of my attempts to get the bad paint off. (I'm trying to avoid that.)

Someone throw me a bone.

Thanks.

If you want to make the ride down here, you can do it with the gravity feed.

Ahhh, Don't paint the gas tank with spray cans- the paint won't match from can to can. Also, spray can primer will leave overlapping edges that are defined- this means you will have suttle ripples in the tank when you look at it. This is what you need to do............

Strip the tank with an aircraft paint stripper. Clean the tank thouroughly. Buy an epoxy primer and shoot the tank with a gravity fed air gun (KURTS). Wet sand with 1000 grit. Primer agan, wetsand, primer again, wetsand.........Next, spray tank with primary color from gun. Allow to dry. Clear coat tank and wetsand with 2000 grit. Sand in one direction. Buff with buffer and vuala- finished tank that is done right.

DON'T USE THE STRIPPER IF THE PART IS PLASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hahaha-I'd love to come down, but the drive from North Carolina isn't exactly a quick up and back. Besides- I'd ask for help in running down an electrical problem in lou of helping you with your paint job. I think you'd rather just stick with the paintjob-lol. Electrical problems are a ho.

There are alot of publications and webpages that are pretty good at describing the process. And my sister backed her 98 Mustang down the side of my moms plymouth, so I got two doses of body work- more fun than I ever want to experience again.

Kurt- I'll help you with your paint job if you help me with mine.

-Eric

The key to the paint job is Prep, prep, prep, prep, and when your tired of prepping, prep again.
