I know its been a while since I have been on the sight but work keeps me busy these days... anywho ... I'm rebuilding my 355 and I want to put a new/different exhaust on the car... I've come too two different choices for what I want to run:

A full length set of headers and true 2 1/2 inch duals back with H pipe. Widing out the tunnel where the driveshaft runs, relocating the fuel and brake lines, and buying a special pan hard bar to compensate for the dual exhaust.

Or

A set of mid range headers with a 3 inch collector into a 3 1/2 inch Y-pipe and 3 1/2 inch exhaust running the orginal path back with dual outlets.

Now this is going on an '84 Z28. Yeah I got 3 camaros now but thats for another time. My question or opinion for everyone is which one would seem like the better choice for tone/flow/backpressure .... yadda yadda yadda... so let me know what you think...

i like longtubed headers, they give the best torque and response. Smaller is always better for low end, but bigger is better for top end. I guess it all depends on how you want the car to feel.

Id say long tubes too since you are going to do all the other stuff just go with long tubes umless you dont want to spend the money.

Get Hooker Long Tubes, Coat them and then go 3" back. in my opinion 3 1/2 os overkill unless you are over 500 HP.

I would actually go hookers with SLP 3" TOTL exhaust

true dual on those cars are a pain due to the tranny cross member and such, I would us a single 3-3.5in pipe as per your choice #2. You will make the same power prety much in either case, and it will fit nicely with no ground clearances issues.

Thats what I was thinkin JB ... I know my friend Wayne with his 87 IROC did true duals with long tubes and it worked but he also had access to a lift and pipe bender so clearance wasn't an issue for his ... I do believe I'm gonna go with the 3.5" single exhaust and a hooker set up as far as muffler and headers.... thanks for the help guys .... now I just need to fix my tranny :( ada@#(&^$..... yeah my bad luck wont stop .. take care guys
