All of y'all know my car needs some serious work. I was supposed to work on her with a bunch of my friends up here tomorrow, but they bailed on me to go work on some nice pretty fast mustang. Anyway, I was thinking about coming down to visit everyone for my birthday this coming weekend (weekend of Oct 9.) However, I want to work on my car some too. Here's what needs to be done at least:
Check bearrings (Steven...customcarmaker said he can do this)
Wiring (Same as above)
Window motor
Lock motor
Replacing whatever I can find at the junkyard.
If anyone has a day that weekend free...has knowledge in those areas...and wants to help, please volunteer. I'll provide beer/food. If all goes well, I plan to head down there Thursday night after the dragstrip...leave late Sunday or so. TIA.

:-P Luke, since when do I come down to work on my car? Obviously, never since nothing is ever done on her. :D Usually I only come down when she's actually running.

sounds like you want free work done. Go pay for a mechanic ro refurbish your bucket and then drive down. That sounds like a better plan :)

Or....
She does want to come down and hang out but it is a 6 hour drive each way and she is having problems with her car, so why not ask some of her gear head friends who supposedly like wrenching on cars to help her out. Not to mention is offering Beer and Pizza for it all.
Sheesh, pick on one of the few girls who likes hanging out with us why don't ya ? It is the girls birthday and she wanted to come down, and maybe get a little help while she is here, why don't you just relax a little bit.
Come on down Nikki, many of the people would be happy to help with what they can, and you are still welcome to come out and make your birthday fun as well.

Lol...thanks JB...it's always great to hear how things are done wrong and have no idea how to fix them. :D
No, I don't want free work done. I've offered to pay y'all to help me before. Every time I've offered I've just been told to buy beer and food. I just don't want to take it to some mechanic around here that will probably screw me over. I want to learn how to do this crap...not just give y'all my car and say fix it. Last time I checked, that's what ERMCA did...we all got together and worked on each others cars in whatever area we had knowledge.

I'll gladly do a lock motor, and a window motor, but you can forget about checking the bearings. You're not tearing your motor apart 400 miles from home. If you take that motor apart, you put a new motor in it. That's all there is to it.

Sean and Jeremy, none of my posts refer to you, so STFU. TIA.

10-03-2004, 9:20 PM
Aight...well, then window/lock motor is cool with me. I know they're pretty simple...but knowing my luck something would still go wrong. I kinda want to hit up the junkyard to see if I can find some headlights (doubtful, but worth a try) and some more interior parts, driver's side door, and hatch...ground effects would be nice too.

Kurt , I believe she is talking about wheel bearings.... is that right Nikki ?
StangBabe89
10-03-2004, 9:41 PM
Yeah...remember how I had my accident where my rear axle got bent? I don't think the bearrings were ever checked...I know they're a pita to change, but I'd like to at least see if there's any damage so I can take them to a shop and have them fixed. It'd at least give me some peace of mind. Like I've said before, there's a whorling noise, but I have no idea if it's the bearrings or not. I've driven my car for a year like this...a little more time probably won't make much of a difference.
jeremy
10-03-2004, 10:14 PM
1. If it is posted on the board as a public message it's fair game for me or anyone else.
2. You're going to spend more in gas then it would cost to get a shop to take care of all of that.

Axle bearings are no better than engine bearings. That is a hell of a job, and you will need to get a slidehammer. Usually when the axle bearings go bad, they destroy the half shafts. I didn't see a GT stang last time I was at the junkyard, but they might have one now.
A window motor and a lock motor you will have to buy new. I think you can get a lock actuator through stangparts, and 5.0resto.

Jeremy, what don't u understand about the fact that people (other than you) want me to come down, and I want to come down, so I'm going to come down? I only spend about $70 in gas round trip. Nice try though.

no nice on my part. im generally amiable, only certain things get to me. id be willing to bet you spend more that $70 in gas driving 6 hrs. I mean it's an ancient V8 thats not in good condition anymore. Maybe im wrong, but seems wierd to me. Im also have more common sense than to drive on a fucked up motor and wheel bearings. Your freakin wheel could come off, your car would flip and youd die.
wait, on second thought...
Im sure ermca will be happy to help :) You should leave now. :)

Sean, every time I've made the trip to/from here to there, I've averaged about $70. I refill about twice each way at about $16-18 each stop. Do the math hun. 250 miles on each tank. 2 tanks to get there. My gas tank holds about 12 gallons. 250/12 = 20.8 mpg. That's not unusual for an older mustang with high mileage. Actually, that's about normal for most new mustangs. How the hell did you pass any classes at Riddle?
TheSean
10-12-2004, 5:33 PM
you wish you got 21mpg. I honestly dont belive that. Thats like 4cyl territory.
$16/fillup?? whoa, so your tack is only like 8-9 gallons? Musta got that special version of the mustang with the minikeg as a fuel tank, huh? ;)
TheSean
10-12-2004, 5:35 PM
How the hell did you pass any classes at Riddle?
because i have a 147 IQ, 1590 on the SAT and i have a very right brained mind. :slap:
I was actually holding a 3.x gpa, and it was lame, so i transfered to a harder, better (imo) school. you arent even AT riddle, wtf are you talkin about???
toastychicken
10-12-2004, 10:26 PM
Actually, I'd believe the 21mpg.
Luke01GT
10-12-2004, 10:59 PM
yea seeing as how I've gotten 32 on the way down here before. usually sitting somewhere around 26 mpg on the highway. 18 around town
StangBabe89
10-13-2004, 1:07 PM
And, still, with your math skills shown on this thread Sean...I still don't see how you passed anything at Riddle. Aight...I said $16-18 per fillup. I have a 12 gallon tank. I don't usually run down to E since my gas gauge doesn't work. So, even if I ran down to fumes, that's with gas prices about $1.33-$1.50. I fill up only at certain gas stations on the way...NEVER in Daytona. Gas is the highest I've seen here in Greenville...and it's sitting at $1.70. But like I said, I never go down to empty. When I first got my car, I occasionally got up to 32 mpg...you're right Luke...those are typical of most mustangs I know of. And Sean, don't bother arguing with that...I've got the receipts/miles gone on a tank written down. Unless, you still can't do math. The fact I'm not at Riddle has absolutely nothing to do with grades/brains. It's the fact that I can transfer back to Riddle having saved about $40,000.
TheSean
10-13-2004, 2:39 PM
um... yeah.
i did the math. Im actually very good at math. If you actually get 30 mpg in your car ever ill give you my car and a blowjob. I gurantee you dont. The fact that you dont actually meaure the exact amout of gas in your tank means i win. so stfu.
jeremy
10-14-2004, 11:05 AM
And the fact that she made calculations based on gas prices of $1.33 - $1.50 proves even more how oblivious she is. I don't care how selective you are in stopping for gas. Unless you're pumping it on your knees negotiating a better price with the attendant you're not going to find it below $1.85. But wait, what was I thinking, of course she's gonna be on her knees. Hell I bet she could make it down here for $5 if she tried.
StangBabe89
10-14-2004, 12:21 PM
Funny how I just said gas is at $1.70 now and is the highest it's been as long as i can remember. Remember, you do not live where I live...nor do you travel the same roads I do. Sean, not knowing exactly how much gas my gas tank holds is not an issue whatsoever. If you know how many miles you just drove...and you put in a full tank before...and then know how many gallons you put in to make another full tank...divide...wow...it's not magic. My next thread will be on teaching math to idiots...Sean and Jeremy...take notes!
jeremy
10-14-2004, 2:53 PM
Ok, you can start by solving this Diff Eq:
y''' - 3y'' + 4y = e^2x
Put your money where your mouth is, that is of course, if there's enough room in there along with the 2 cocks you're probably sucking right now.
