Ok maybe its not that bad but when i apply a small amount of throttle the motor starts going erratic. The rpms are all over the place. It doesnt go away till very high amounts of throttle are applyed. I do have MSD blaster coils and 9.3mm wires and i am wondering if that has anything to do with it. I also checked the plugs and they are kinda whitish. The head is an angle plug head and the spark plugs have a bit of a taper to the electrodes. I run bosch platinum 4 plugs. I started running 89 in it and the car is running better. My car has always had this problem but it lessened with the increase of octane. I'm really confused and i need some serious advice cause this doesn't seem normal. If its a big problem i dont want serious damage done so if anybody can help please post ASAP. I have to go to the court house or some place to mmorrow so I will drive the car but i just want to know. It sounds like it is missing out and i cant figure out why cause all the plugs are tight and all the wires are tight. It does not have a distributer so it cant be the distributer. I know people really dont know much about FWD but i just need help. I figure somebody can help. :dunno: :dunno:

I don't really know, i guess it is possible that you might be running too hot of a spark. :dunno:

TPS could be going out. Some cars can not run Bosch plugs and especially the Plat 4s. When did the problem begin. Was it after you changed something, (Coils, Plugs etc...)?

the fact that you have a FWD car isnt a problem. i agree with darb check the Throttle position sensor. are their any codes? if it was miss firing there would most likely(not always) be a thrown code.
maybe its depress after getting beat by a 4.0 Jeep in the 1/4 mile?

lol it hasnt done it that long and i have no codes. i think if the car was running good and i emptied the car i would beat the 17.8 time. i hope. I ran bosch plugs in my 91 truck forever and never had a problem. in fact the truck ran a little better with them.

Put a regular autolite platinum in there, or an AC Delco lazer platinum. The car probably requires a minimum of a single platinum plug. Bosch platinum +4s disagree with some cars. It is probably a TPS or IAC.

Yeah, I have heard mixed emotions on Bosch platinum 2s and +4s. Some people have problems, and others swear by them. I say screw it and go with what works. Regular Delcos are shit, but the Lazer platinums work great. And of course an Autolite is fail safe simple.

ok i think i will go with the autolite. Which ones and what wires. i really dont want to run stock. Also is there anything i can do about a lean problem or do you think my iac or tps is causing it.

Take it to Advance and have a code scan done. Sometimes shit will show up without it tripping the check engine light. OBD 2 is really good about giving you readable information.

What year Cavalier? If its pre-96, its OBD1 and won't be as helpful.

It might be easier just to go back to stock on those plugs and wires, you should be able to isolate the problem easier.

whats wrong with stock type plugs? check around and just buy a hotter or colder plug if thats what you mean.
