What's the easiest way to check fuel pressure? My car is still being retarded.

Is it a varialbe speed pump, or a return style system?

I have no idea what kind of fuel system it is.

After racking my brain, I think I have my problems narrowed down to one of two things. Either clogged injector(s) or a failing fuel pump.

Thanks again for the help, Glenn.

Concensus is saying that it's the fuel pressure regulator. Joy.

Is the FPR easy to get to in an LS1, or is it buried somewhere?

IIRC, it's in the fuel tank with the pump.

Ed, what is your car doing? I am having issues with my car, thought it was transmission related, that theory was debunked yesterday. My car has a stumble in 1st gear right before the 1-2 shift around 5400-5500.

It's a single unit in the tank with the pump, just as LSWON said. It's still under warranty, so I'll let the fuckos at Jon Hall fix it.

The car is misfiring like crazy at WOT, and the longterm fuel trims are running positive under regular driving, indicating a pretty nasty lean condition. It's just not getting enough fuel. After doing a little pressure testing, etc., we figured it's either the pump or regulator.

Hrmm... does yours do it in every gear? My car only does this in 1st. Unfortunately, my car isn't under warranty... so I'll have to lay under it and fix it myself. :irked:

Yep, all gears.

Ed - get it fixed yet?

I tested the FP on my car finally, it was fine. While that's good, I still have that annoying problem on my 1-2 shift. And it's intermittent. Scanned it w/ a Tech 2 yesterday, 3* of KR right before the 1-2 shift. Low voltage to primary KS at the same point in time. No signs of KR ow low KS voltage until it is about to shift. I'm stumped. :dunno:

Getting it fixed on Tuesday. I'll let everyone know what happens.

Score one for me. :wiggle:

Got a call this morning from my service rep, J.R. He said that they weren't gonna do the work on the "drivability issues" because of my exhaust. He even agreed that an exhaust wouldn't do it, but that his boss is the one that's denying service. Okay, fine. I then called Glen Richey (general manager) and left a message for him to call me back. I guess he just pawned it off on the service manager, cuz he's the one that called me back.

He said that the exhaust "alters the backpressure of the motor and causes misfires." Uhhh... Right. He then offered to bring in a GM rep for a second opinion, but he warned that GM could yank my warranty completely. Whatever, I told him to go ahead and bring him in. Now, I called Brad and told him about what the manager said. He even agreed that it was bogus...so I was on the phone, calling Glen Richey again. Left another message.

Within a few minutes, the service manager called again. He said he spoke with Glen and that they're gonna change out the pressure regulator anyway, but if that doesn't fix the problem, then I'll have to pay for any further work. Fine by me. I'm pretty sure that's the issue, but if it's not, I can always go to another dealer. Screw them, I win.

Oh, and I also spoke to J.R. again just now and asked about the fuel pump. I asked if he could suggest that they change the pump with the regulator, since they're both in the same place. Pretty sure they're gonna do it.

Nice to know some people are good to work with. J.R. is a good guy. Screw the rest.

Hopefully the car will be done tomorrow. I want my car back, dammit. :)

It just amazes me how incompetant dealer technicians are.

Got the car back...they didn't fix the fuel issue. The regulator and pump didn't come in til this afternoon, so instead of them keeping the car all weekend, I figured I'd just take it for now 'til Monday morning.

Le sigh.

Any updates? I finally got a code from my car PO327, "low knock sensor voltage". Gotta pull the intake back off and replace both knock sensors and the harness under the manifold. :banghead:
