How many of you run synthetic engine oil over petroleum based engine oil?

Mobil 1 10w-30 (while many of you may think I do not own an LS1, I infact do. The Avalache's 5.3L is an LS1 based motor.

Have you guys ever heard of synthetic oil compounding the LS1 oil consumption problem? In the new issue of Chevy High Tech they say that you should use petroleum based oil, not synthetic. Have you guys ever heard of that before? Because I have 1030 synthetic in mine and it doesnt burn any.

10W-30 Mobil 1 here.

Yeah i read that also. it was a reader question right? That was mostly a 1998 Problem and they did have a recall. but if yours aint burnin any oil i wouldnt worry about it. but i would get the extended warranty anyways.

The motor in the Avalanche, with the exception of the block itself shares almost no other parts with the LS1.

Keep in mind that your rotors can go bad with something as simple as bolting your wheels on wrong. I don't see anyone else with the same problem.

Warped rotors are a VERY common problem on newer F-Bodies... I haven't had any problems with mine, though, whatsoever.

I haven't had any oil consumption issues, either.

*shrug* Mine just ticks a lot. :D

the oil problem they had was because they were trying to squeeze out a little extra power by running low tension rings and when broken in about 10 to 20 k they burn some oil so the only fix is to pop the pistons and replace the rings what were they thinking :banghead:
