Anyone on this board are using knock sensor monitors. Maybe the GN guys can help me a bit.
I have done a few searches but I didn't get any relevant results.

Stock GM Knock sensor. Depending on the severity of the detonation the ECM Retards the timing appropriatly. We have scan tools that monitor the degrees of timing that the ECM is Pulling out, we prefer 0* when racing. VP C16 is a wonderfull thing.

Sorry for the delay, I 've been away.
The toyota has the same thing. The microtech ECU I am using still doesn't support knock control. I guess I have to wait, till they update the software.
I thought you guys put aftermarket knock sensors and monitors. The GN was way ahead of its time also. Thanks Joe

ditto again. Most EMSs will advance knock until the esnsor detects it, then back off 3 degrees, then cycle 72 times, then try it again. In closed loop operation, it uses O2 and knock sensor feedback to do air mass compensation fuel calcuations, but it's dumb in open loop and only will cut back timing with knock. Some people tune their car on a dyno with the knock sensor, have the ignition curve set to where they know there is no knock, then pull the sensor when they race because of inherant noise associated with engine movement, which will trigger the knock sensor and pull timing for no reason and hence you go slower.
I like standalones. :p
