so i went to nissan the other day to take a close look at the 350z, inspired by the recent debates on the car...
as i walk up to the door, a salesman comes over and greets me. i told him i was a big fan of the Z and that i wanted to take a closer look, although i wasn't a customer. he said "have you ever driven one of these babies?"
with bike week going on, 17 salesmen with nothing to do at that place worked out to my advantage
so billy and i took this red track model for a forty minute test drive all over the place. let me be the first to tell you it is a magnificent drive
it's got unbelievable amounts of grip, both in cornering and braking. a crotch rocket had a hard time keeping up with us through indigo pines, next to the ale house. he pulled along side and nodded afterwards. i also took the kieser college loop at 55 mph and had some grip left over... jonathan, you can appreciate that. :D everything about that car is tight as a rock! apparently some of the chassis/frame is made of tubular construction. also, all of the joints are welded and bonded. i'm just repeating this as i don't have too much to compare it to. this theory seemed to work because it was a blast to drive.
the transmission and clutch was perfect. firm but smooth. that nav screen in the dash was tits with a moving map ten times better than a garmin 530. the only shortcoming i noted, to be fair, was that 50 more lb/ft would have made this car absolutely perfect to drive. but then again, more torque never hurt anyone
all in all i would rate this car a TEN... a FUCKIN TEN!!! :boink:
