The night started out nicely with my first run as 13.945 sec @ 99.08 mph. :) I didn't light the tires up nor did I launch. Next run was a 13.960 sec @ 98.69 mph. This was with a cleaning of my tires spin and A launch at 800 rpms. Then my last run was a 14.061 sec @ 98.37 mph. :banghead:. I did a quick burnout and launched at 1000 rpms. What happened? I don't know. I do know that it is time to get a new pulley on my truck to make it faster.

Brent given I don't know anything about how your truck drives, I think it's time to go out on a back road and find out how badly and where it spins as far as rpm range. Time to fuck with the truck, that's how you know. :D
I have to agree with Luke on this..... You need to go out and learn your truck and get a good feel for it then you'll know how to launch it and what to do on how to make yourself better at the track.....
And for those that know me I finally got mine back to the track maybe for the last time this season......
60' - 2.176
330 - 6.134
1/8 - 9.341
mph - 77.8
1/4 - 14.2
mph - 100.39
Finally hit my goal for this motor before i start the rebuild....

Time for Lightning Launch Academy...
I got 13.48 out of my bone stock 2001...so we can squeeze a lot more out of your chipped truck. Its all about the launch...sp we'll go practice it Brent...let me know when youre ready.

i also went to the track with brent last night , after taking a month to improve my driving skills i finally got my car in to the "stock" 15's. i ran 4 runs last ningt and my best was 15.997 at 90 mph with a reaction time of 1.0. for some reason on an other race my reaction time was .87 yet i only ran 16.01. i think my car was getting worn out for the night

Your reaction time has nothing to do with your 1/4 mile time.

Yes, Eddie, Keep in mind your r/t only has to deal with wether or not you beat the car next to you. It will in no way affect your e/t so you can sit there for 5 minutes if you wanted to and still run what ever time you were supposed to run. The only difference is wether or not the guy running the tree will come up and yell at you or not. ;)

Definitely work on the launches. Its no big secret that traction and your 60ft is the key to good ETs. I would also look into some traction bars or something along those lines, with the amount of torque your making spinning is almost inevitable.

Thank you everybody for your advice. I forgot to mention that on September 26th I ran a 14.648 sec @ 94.37 mph. So there was an improvement and I'm happy about that. Dan I will call you sometime in the near future. I'm just not sure when yet. Thank you again and congrats to Subz.

well when the "green starts a flowin" i just might have to look into some thing like that . i was running consistant last night all 4 with in 15.9 and 16.00. so i know have a base to start modifing my car. it is just a matter of where to start. i was thinking MSD.

markviiiEdrea - What kinda of car do you have?
Not only is an MSD useless unless your spinning that motor well over 6k rpm, but myself and others have had problems with them. Im on my third 6A box in the Monte. Gives you a consistent spark, but really won't do anything for a stock ride turning 5 grand something on the tach.
Whatever you have, exhaust is the number one mod followed by induction (NOT intake!!). If you have a manual...short throw shifter is helpful. For an automatic, a shift kit will help firm things up and increase the longevity of your tranny (along with a trans cooler).

Yeah, the MSD isn't going to do shit for you. Actually Rich, the MSD works just like a regular ignition over 3500 rpms with one spark per stroke. It's just a little stronger of a spark. Having an MSD is nice when you are running spray and stuff like that. I am also on my 3rd digital 6 in the Mustang. When you get an ignition box, I would recommend getting a Crane Cams piece. They are better quality, and cheaper because of the name.

Ask the guys on www.fordvschevy.com about it. They're the resident Lincoln nuts. :)

The lincoln has got real potential, ignition is the last of your worrys. Start with exaust, then a low restriction induction system followed by a 125 shot and slicks and it will run 12's all day long.
