I thought that traffic light work by sensors on the ground and weight of the car? at least in Daytona

Your missing the point Eddie, this has nothing to do with the sensors in the pavement, this is a device that cops, ambulance, or firetrucks use that will change the cycle of the light to allow then to safely get through an intersection. But yes most traffic light intersections have sensors in the pavement. you can see them usually they are covered by some sorta sealer also.

Most newer lights have the sensors for cops nowadays Eddie.
Actually, this is just a more efficient way of getting the job done.. a lot of the lights will actually change if you flip your high beams on and off quickly enough.
give it a try.

i think the high beams thing is one second intervals off and on... time the pulses of a cruiser next time you see him chasing down a honda

I'm kinda confused...........how do they change the cycle of the light if it works by the snesors on the ground? Meaning the minute u pull up to a light it senses the weight of ur car and then changes light accordingly. What am I missing here?

dude, there are TWO sensors on these types of lights...
the weight sensors are in the ground and work on a regular basis. when one of these little electronic gadgets approaches the intersection, there's a sensor on TOP of the traffic light bar that knows it, and overrides the regular pattern to let you thru.
