I am looking to spend around $500 next spring to mod my car. It is an 03 Mustang GT. I'm currently thinking of putting dynomax glasspack mufflers in to get a better sound and still have money left over...

But of course I can't help to think that maybe there is a better mod for that kind of money that will give me more horsepower...any ideas???

Get gears. That will help you high revvin' 4.6 more then any other bolt on short of a blower or a nitrous kit. I'd go with 3.73's or 4.10s.

glasspacks are like $30 each. You could do that mod and have $400 left over. but I don't think a glasspack sound would really go well with a newer mustang.

I was thinking of the glasspacks because I'm going for noise (the noisier the better). But I guess I have to consider a few things. It's a modern looking car, and some people are not sure having an old streetcar sound would blend in well. But right now I think I could go with more noise...I don't know anyone who has glasspacks, but my friend tells me they produce a wicked sound.

I'm thinking of getting that...but I also found (off an older forum) this SLP loudmouth exhaust system for $350.00. What do you guys think? My friend told me I have to be careful with some exhaust systems because it could hurt my car if I plan on keeping it for the next 3 years... :wtf:

Could hurt your car???? How so?

SLP has been making some pretty free-flowing systems for f-bodies for a while now. They're cheap, and flow very well. On the f-bodies, there is no muffler, just a resonator. It's all legal.

A $50 2 chamber flowmaster muffler would sound just fine if you're looking for going cheap. I would recommend an entire cat-back system though. There is nothing better sounding (exluding open exhaust on worked motors) than 2 chamber flowmasters on a Mustang.

I think I'm gonna go with the SLP exhaust...as for what my friend said about hurting the car...some people say things just because they like to say it

I looked at pretty much every other exhaust I could put on my car. While these would probably be better than the SLP's...they run up in the $500-$800 range for a 99-03. Pretty much anything would be better than the current (and really quiet) exhaust setup in the car. I could drive through a nursery right now and not wake a soul... :squint:

The Jeep you were following in the parade has glasspacks on it.

I would suggest the SLP exhaust as well... I think it would be niiice

BTW Rich, the Mustang Exhaust has resonators only as well.

Well...man...I think I absolutely want to go for sound here...

One of my friends told me on my first run he couldn't tell what gear I was in as I was going on my first 1/4 mile because the factory exhaust was so quiet...

I LOVE noisy cars...I want to have a car that can pull up next to a lil' civic and SHATTER it to pieces when I gun my engine...that would be like a dream for me...While some may disagree...I think the SLP Loudmouth Exhausts just may be the way to go for me...I still have until this spring to decide (when student loans get in)...what do you guys suggest??? Too much sound? Something better than SLP's???...

Ok well the GT behind you was me, I have Warlocks, they have a cut-out in the muffler. TRUST ME it is loud and VERY ANNOYING when I don't want to hear it, and yes there WILL be times you don't want to hear it. So my problem is solved because I can be very loud when I want and quiet when I want. The Warlocks with the cut-outs off are also the best flowing mufflers for the car. Basically when the cut outs are off you have no mufflers running. I like them LOTS and would suggest them to you.

as far as sound goes, i dont really like it if the car cant back it up... mine's stock just like yours, and there's a better chance of a snowstorm in hell than of me making my car louder before it gets faster.

civics with fart cans are loud

eh...i'm gonna buy one of those supertuners (reconfigure the computer chip) and then get the SLP exhaust...then I think I'll be juuuust fine and have some extra hp's :D . It'll be fun with the new exhaust because right now, people say they can't tell what gear i'm in running down the track (too quiet).

But I think it'll be fun to have some noise when i need it. Any other alternatives to an SLP loudmouth exhaust that goes behind the catalytic converters? (to keep my warranty).

175 shot would be great for the club also, we can put your motor back together.

Don't put glasspacks on (if you do this, start growing your mullet)...if you want loud, go Magnapacks with a Prochamber...
