Currently, I'm insured with Progressive...I've had an accident in august and I've had speeding tickets in the past.

My current insurance rose from $320/mo. to $519/mo.!!! :banghead:

I guess I have these things going against me...
New car
Single
Lot's of speeding tickets
2 accidents within 5 years

I tried Geiko and with a $1000 deductible it would be $470/mo...
know anyone I should try to get a cheaper rate?

Jesus, you pay almost as much for a month as I pay for 6. You want to know what to do. Buy a 4-cylinder Mustang, and stick a big block in it. Done. Cheap insurance, faster car.

Holy crap man.. You are getting strung across the coals here.. At my worst, I was 18 with a major at fault, and 1 speeding ticket, and I think the worst I got was $209/month or something for $300 deduct and full coverage.. Make sure you get all your discounts for anti-theft and anti-lock, in addition to leaving off towing coverage (get AAA plus). Other than that, just make sure you aren't going nutty on your coverage levels. Take the state minimums, and then get one step above that, and you should be okay. Take the highest deductibles you can get, and take the longest coverage period you can, as that will lower the rates as well. Additionally, make sure you check the insurance company's info regarding your VIN, as many ins comps will misread VIN info. My car, for example, comes up as a 6 cylinder Diamante with rear drums. Also, get the most current driving record from The clerk of court's office, and make sure the number of points on their match what the insurance company shows.

Other than that, try Florida No-fault?

Good luck man.

$6228 a year for insurance....

buy a $300 dollar pickup truck, a trailer, and a Intercooled Procharger, slicks and a cage for your car and you will still have money left over.

Just take the stanger off the road. Sounds drastic, but it would work.

my best advice for ya...

stop driving like an a hole... seriously man, speeding in daytona is like masturbation. it's only fun till you realize you're f***ing yourself!

back when i first got in this club we had some pretty crazy drivers who would act like idiots when we all cruised in close formation. don't do it.

not saying you're a bad driver, but the only two times i've driven along side of you, you pulled right out in front of me and sped off...

You should feel special, I registered just to answer you (by the prompting of an impatient individual :p)

Anyway... I own an agency... email me with your info at manda@daytonawan.com if you'd like a quote. My boyfriend has an 03 cobra and some major activity on his MVR (and he's 22) and we got his down... I'd be happy to see what I can do for you.

as a matter of fact, one of your members forced me to register, so you can take it up with him.

I told her to come cuz she can probably help out. Don't be a dick, Sean. She's a really good friend of mine who could probably save a few people here a ton of cash...and is a speed freak like the rest of us.

Alex - I got a quick question. Is your insurance here in Florida or back home somewhere? If you're form a big city or up north, I would recommend getting that changed to down here in Daytona. The rates are much cheaper down here than pretty much anywhere up north or outside the state.

I actually found the cause and corrected it...it had nothing to do with the accident actually...

Tell me if this sounds messed up. They (progressive) sent me a form in the mail telling me they needed information on my two roommates. I filled in their information and mailed it in not thinking it meant anything.

I recieved my new premium a month later saying a change has been made to my policy...I thought it was because of my recent accident that changed the rate...when I called for the third time though, someone finally told me the reason they ACTUALLY changed my rate $200+/mo. was because they threw my two roommates in as other drivers!!!

I would never let them touch my car! One of my roommates is legally blind and doesn't have a license! I got it corrected and my rate is now down to the still pricey $320/mo...but hey...it's not $520/mo.!!!

Problem solved, thanks for your help though...

Even $320 a month is outrageous. :whoa:

I pay ~$180/mo for the SS, and that's with two tickets on my record.

all other people of licensed age are *supposed* to either be listed as drivers, or excluded. sounds like they found other drivers, and requested their info to list them because thats what they do first. generally, you have to sign a specific form to exclude people.

wow, i thought mine was high at $98.00 a month for the ss. man the highest it ever got to was $240 in 1987 ,for a 87 grand national, granted i was 17 at the time. i can't even comprehend $320.
