Hey there,
I just found out about this organization. My name is Mike and I'm from IL. I just moved down to Daytona to start flying here at Embry-Riddle.
I want to be in this club but I wasn't able to make it to the first meeting.
Hope to see everybody soon.

Welcome! We meet every Friday evening at 7pm in the McDonald's parking lot (corner of International Speedway Blvd and Clyde Morris Blvd), and our next mandatory meeting is Sunday the 14th as well. Friday meetings are usually laid back and just hang out and cruise or whatever. Mandatory meetings usually cover more important matters. Info on dues and everything else is in the Info forum.

Have fun.

Thanx for the welcome,
I'm a freshman here at Embry-Riddle. I'm from Carbondale, but my family lives in East St. Louis. I drive an 02 Mustang Cobra, but its for sale now. I'm looking into buying something else. Actually its a very nice car with only 23000miles on it. If anybody is iterested just let me know. Its gonna go for cheap. Thanx and see u guys soon.

No offence to anybody, but I really don't like it very much. I got the car as a gift from my grandfather anyways. I drove my friend's 02 Cmaro SS and fel in love right away. The Camaro is more of a performance car to me and I think its got a little bit more balls than my Mustang. I'm looking into buying a Camaro/TA or maybe even a Vett if I can find a decent one not very expensive. I found a special eddition TA in New Smyrna Beach, the one with the blue wheels, however they are asking too much for it.
I have to do some hunting to find a good cheap one. We'll see what happens.

welcome to ermca, cant wait to see your cobra

P.S. Throw a blower on that thing and it will remedy your lack of power problem, and will also show quite a few t/a's and SS's the the tailights. :D

A blower on an SS will be satisfying too :D

Blowers don't agree with LS1s. They only like nitrous.

You know MS BOO.... Your grandfather must be RICH AS HELL cause there were never any 02 Mustang Cobras made. Ford sold 100 RIGHT HAND DRIVER 01 Cobras to Australia and called them "02 Cobra"s. How is it driving on the ride side anyway? I've got an 02 Cobra too dood.. We should hang out.. It's parked next to my Saleen S7, Bentley, Cummins Diesel Civic, and my Enzo Ferrari. :bs:

It's in his Sig... Hard to make that screw up twice. How would you not know what year your car is?

I can see that some of u are taking different sides. I really don't know what I want and maybe u guys can give me ideas. I'll keep what I got if somebody can tell me how to make it really fast. I'm kinda new to the whole performance field, but I like it so far with my only stock car.
I heard many good things about the Camaros but I also heard good things about the Mustangs. Lets see what u guys think?

Well man, first off look up the VIN number, because your car is either a 99 Cobra or a 2001, either way it doesnt matter...... and there are TONS of ways to make your car really fast man. A blower is definately one of the best, also motor work is a great way to go fast.. i.e. port polished heads, new cams etc. However i wouldnt suggest cams because that would be expensive seeing as how you need 4 of them. Blower man, thats the way to go, you could even go turbo thats even better and even more rare.

Bottom line man the Cobra Motor is strong, LaMotta racing in orlando has a 83 SVO with a twin-turbo Modular cobra motor like yours that runs 9.30's in the 1/4 mile. Thats crazy fast man.

There is a 4.6 running 7s in Outlaw. Steeda also has a streetable version running 8s for Outlaw. The 4 cam motor is a tough animal. It would be cheaper to stick with what you have than to switch to another car. I like stangs better because even though the motor doesn't put out the power as easily they come with a better drivetrain. Stang computers are easier to tune. There's no guess work, you just bolt in on and go. Stangs are also shorter and lighter than F-bodys. No matter how much power you have to put into that Camaro, you are always fighting the length and weight of the car. Stangs also have much better visibility, and better instrumentation. The engines are also more accesible and easier to work on.

LS1 F-bodys build power really easily up to a point. They have more compression from the factory, better port designs, and more aftermarket head and cam setups available. The motor has some reliability issues though. You never know what you get. Many of the LS1s had piston ring problems. Camaros are also the most dangerous cars in America (insurance wise), which makes them very expensive to insure.

I just noticed that I made a fool out of myself on a public forum, but its ok coz sometimes people make mistakes :banghead:

I was thinking in my friends 02SS when I was posting, but my car is actually a white99 Cobra. Me and my friend Dave exchanged cars for a week before I came down here. Its actually funny coz he wants a Mustang and I want an SS but each one is got the wrong car :D

Anyways, u guys are giving many great ideas which might make me change my mind and keep my car. I have a comment on the insurence issue though........I found out that the insurence is actually cheaper on the SS than my car  plus if I decide to keep my car and modify it who is in town that can do the work. Any suggestions there.

yes! YOU! hahaha why pay someone to do it when you can do it yourself! Plus I wouldn't give my car to any shop in this town....and there's enough people in this club that know what they are doing to help you....plus compare what a good set of craftsman tools cost vs what labor cost, you'll persuade yourself eventually...especially when you'll get tired to spend 60$ an hour for a guy to tight 4 bolts and manage to screw that up! Start with small bolt-ons so you can learn your car, read alot of forums, ask alot of question on those forums (and do search on them), pick up magazines and go to sears get yourself some tools and start at it...if you F up, which we all do, need not to worry, come get one of us on here and we'll help ya! that's what we here for! :)

I'd like to post my first post on the new forum by saying welcome to ERAU and ERMCA. I'm currently in Meteorology 2 board out of my mind. I am noticing that somebody else is browsing the forum in my classroom right now. Later.

Hello Mike and welcome to the club :) We're all happy to have you here. And Jenni ... my response to the whole "75% of the female population" comment is Yeah right! I say Phhhttppp! to that!

Mike,

The MD-80 is powered by two Pratt and Whitney JT8D-219 turbofans. LOL

Oh BTW, an MD-80 is a airplane man :D What exactly are you studying here at Embry-Riddle?
