I have the cut-outs on their way...however, I'm not sure I'd want to install them on the factory h-pipe (WARRANTY). Instead, I was thinking about buying an affordable x-pipe ($135.00), and welding the cut-outs onto that...I'd leave the factory mufflers in place with the aftermarket x-pipe. The x-pipe i'm looking at does not have cats...so it will be pretty loud (but it's running through factory mufflers). Obviously I wouldn't use the cut-outs unless I was at the track...what do you guys think? I'm probably making the purchase today...

You are bidding on a genuine UPR X-Pipe for a 99-04 Mustang / Cobra. Add up to 20 HP with this simple, inexpensive 15 minute bolt-on. UPR X-Pipe features the latest technology used in NASCAR race cars every Sunday. UPR X-Pipe is manufactured from Aluminized Steel, then Mandrel Bent to offer the highest quality. This X-Pipe will not rust!! Give your car that low rumble sound of a muscle car without spending hundreds, even thousands of dollars. Shipping is super fast, and you will receive your product within 7-10 days, AT THE MOST! Often shipping is even FASTER!! Bid with confidence from a reputable dealer. Track Tested, Racer Approved!

I think it's the way to go because it's affordable, I'd get the sound and performance I'd want...and the cut-outs would be used the way they should be (at the track)...

Sounds good. I've heard the 4.6 through an offroad X and stock mufflers. It's nice.

Remember this is a Mustang, you ain't getting 20HP from an X-pipe
Just teasing :D

Hey man.........did you consider a set of headers and maybe some gears. That'll wake her up from deep sleep

Yeah, I never believe these guys when they make 10, 20, 30 etc. hp claims  I bought a MAC intake kit that claimed 15 horsepower...it sounds and looks nice, but I hardly noticed a difference in speed worth talking about...

But with these pipes, I plan to bring back some of the rumble that the "4!!!" cats take away. My friend has a dark red mustang with no cats and it sounds beautiful...by the way, my cut-outs arrived today. I'm gonna hand these and the x-pipe to a muffler shop and have them weld the cut-outs to the x-pipe, install it...then let me keep the old one (incase I have to put it back on for warranty purposes). I think it should sound pretty awesome going down the street...and for track nights, unscrew the two caps and let it rip!

Pro-chambers are 8 hp over X-pipes.

How do pro-chambers work exactly??? Would they be quieter...louder?

Thanx for the advice! The reviews make pro-chambers sound like a godsend for exhaust...curious, do you have pro-chambers? Work great for u?

I have no idea what occurs in the pro-chamber, but it works for me.

Prochambers sound better than x-pipes in my opinion... and the gains kind of flip flop. I believe an X makes better torque and an H makes better HP. I would suggest going with the H-pipe. They sound really good and make good power.

Another problem, I looked at the cut-outs...and they are steel...the pro-chamber exhaust or x-pipes I'm bidding on are aluminum..........how well will the cut-outs weld on.

Mr. Bueno

yes but prochambers rust out due to no corrosion protection. All those heat cycles and water down there, make it no good.

bassani, is stainless. please show me the source that says prochamber makes 8hp over bassani X. Is that rwhp? If so, then what gains does an average 4.6L mustang get with an intermediary exhaust change? The norm gains are ~15hp region, which I experienced. 15-8=7hp for bassani? :bs:

doesnt make much sense to take out stainless exhaust and replace it with shit.

I've had my Prochamber on my car for 4 years now, and I haven't had any rust problems. I have a MM&FF issue, and a Pro 5.0 issue both showing an 8 hp gain with a Pro-chamber over a Bassani.

Actually...the pipes I'm bidding on say...

"Aluminized Steel"

What the hell does that mean? Is it steel with an aluminum coating???...or is it aluminum.....

maximumvelocity

essentially it is steel with aluminum coating (to help prevent rust)

thickstunalexndr

Cool...so the weld (from steel exhaust to steel cut-out) will just burn the surrounding aluminum coating away???

Made the purchase today...I will have a MAC Pro Chamber exhaust with no cats within the next few days :D ... I've been doing alot of research (via stangnet and exhaustsoundclips.com) and Pro chambers have been rated highest in performance and IMO sound the best! A special thanks to Kurt for the recommendation

So...if they are aluminum, I will have to weld aluminum flanges onto that and bolt it onto my cut outs...if I am to fit my cut outs on there...that will probably be pricey, so I may not have the cut-outs in until the end of the semester...

If it's steel or aluminized steel, those cut outs will be welded in with the install on the pipe......

Got it installed...when I first took it out, it was such a HUGE difference from the factory exhaust...I was almost too afraid to drive it for fear of getting pulled over! I wasn't sure if I was going to keep that setup or not. But after driving it around all day, as I got used to it I liked it more and more...

My friends and I decided to go to the garage and play around with it a bit. I let my friend drive it down the road a couple times (which turned into a couple dozen times because he wouldn't give it back!!!). It sounded so friggin awesome!!! That's when I decided I'll keep it afterall...

For those of you who haven't heard, it's LOUD! A step under from the Camaro...we'll put it side by side with the "JEEP" and let the members decide...it sounds awesome from the outside, but REALLY loud on the inside...I and all my male friends are fine with that, but I drove a girl in my car and said it gave her a "headache  "...I guess that's a good thing...

Sounds good! Is the track open tonight? (Saturday 31 jan) My ears ring a little when I get out of the car...it doesn't sound so bad on the outside, but the sound really fills the interior! :D
