Are there any shops around here that can do mandrel bending? I need to get a new Y-pipe made, and Mike Schlack is about impossible to get a hold of... I'm sick of my piece of shit exhaust right now.

Please let me know.

The one that came with my headers was a good 3" too far forward and was hitting in like 5 different places. I'd rather get one custom done so I know it fits right.

Marty will bend one up out of regular pipe for you. Mandrel bending doesn't give you any noticable power increase.

make your own mandrel:

pipe bender: sand in pipe = mandrel bends :D


isnt holly hill Muffler mandrel? Who does really good custom (and i mean funky) stuff??

Last time I was at Holly Hill muffler, they were just using a regular pipe bender, but that was a few years ago. If you know how to mandrel bend pipe, you need to teach me.

Holly Hill does NOT do mandrel bends. I've been there for 3 differents sets of pipes and they all have the creases. But they are also cheap as shit, do an awesome job, and on your car you wont notice the marks.

Anyway... so mandrel bending isn't as important as it's hyped? Please explain.

Unless you're making big horsepower, a little kink in the exhaust pipe isn't going to make a difference. It's just to small of a difference to really matter.

I agree with kurt, kinks aint that bad when your not flowing even close to the pipes max velocity. if you have FI and lots and lots of really fast movinmg air in there, then yes it make a difference.

why dont you just buy several U and j pipre bends from jegs and weld them up at catrers? he just got a really nice welder and we coulld all figure out how to use it. make your own
