Using the juice is the race equivalent of getting breast implants. You're gonna turn a lot of heads, but when it comes down to it, you're really just compensating for your lack of natural assets.
If I were to choose, I'd go with the supercharger. I want power on demand and not have to worry if my bottle was full or not.
Nitrous is like viagra.

I'd go with the supercharger. Purging is nice and all, but you can't beat the whine of a SC.

:eyebrow:
so a 10's NA car using nitrous to go 9's is a lack of Natural assets?...I really don't think so...now a 15 sec car doing it for 13's is just that.
I'd go 8-71 anyday...but for the price, you can't beat the price of no2

The squeeze, in my opinion, is the best way to have the power when you want it and not when you don't. Supercharging has it's advantages.. and disadvantages... so does nitrous, but I like being able to race someone without the juice, or just being about to get on it without the added power being there all the time... Nitrous is nice because it's there when you want it, and not when you don't.

I would give up my nitrous kit for a turbo anyday.

This is obviously just a personal opinion of mine....but when I see a car that's all hopped up on the bottle spank a car that isn't, I don't really think much of it. It's more or less expected. But when I see something like we saw at OSW last time, the winner of the no bull, a NA SBC chevy camaro spank a totally tricked out stang squirtin so much juice they had to dry the track after everytime he ran....that commands enormous respect.
There's no replacement for cubic displacement.*

I'll take the blower, but it definately has it's disadvantages- like the heat. Running hot on a blower car is alot more common than on a nitrous car. Also, the plugs are replaced every 3k on a blower car- usually. I just love the "power on demand" aspect of it...........no bottle to run empty- only a gas tank. That whine is really nice too.

the ZZ502 is obsolete, GM has now the ZZ572 with 720hp, and "the engine shop.com" can send you a 632 crate that makes 900hp with a warranty.
as a note, we do not know how "big" that small block was at OSW, could have been a 421 or a 454 sb....
I would still go with a blower, less dangerous than nitrous...only takes one good pudeling of the intake or one fuel pump that quites and "huston we have a new satelite on orbit, it appear to be a Victor jr intake". At least for those of us runing a wet kit

I'm happy with my NX kit so far. My set up is what I always want coz my motor makes decent power and when I come accross a tough customer I just spray him into another country. Blowers are nice too, but much more maintenance and a lot more expensive to have in the first place. Not to mention that u have to have a well built motor for it to make power.

502 hp out of a big block ain't shit. I make more power than that with my 347. I put 2500 miles on my car last month. I wouldn't be able to do that with a big block getting 6 mpg.
I wouldn't get a blower unless you were building a race car. If it were up to me I would be running a turbocharger. Blowers are just too unreliable. A big turbo will give you more power a lot more reliably.
If you want to win races (especially street races) nitrous is the way to go. It's the most reliable way to go. You also have instant power, no waiting. Also no whine to give it away. Nitrous is also a lot easier on the engine than a blower. I would say that a blower car will give you more daily enjoyment.
JB, only wet kits have puddling problems. I have a dry kit, so that problem is totally eliminated. All I have to worry about would be a fuel delivery problem, in which case it would be no different than having a blower.

Blower buy miles.
Yes N2O isnt nearly as damaging to engines as it was and if an engine is built to take one or the other it can go an incredibly long time. But I like the power on demand threwout the throttle range. And the fact that the only time you need to fill up a blower is when your tank is on E.
Safety wise a Blower is way above N2O. N2O in street cars is just insane, one collision and a fire breaks out...... ouch. If I cant run a propain tank to my car somebody tell me why I can drive around with a scuba tank full of for all intents and purposes an explosive.

Nitrous is not an explosive, that's why. N2O is in no way flammable.
Kurt
It's not flammable, but it is a gas contained under very high pressure.

:bs: kurt you'r not making 502hp fly NA like the 502 and surely not the torque....on nitrous maybe, but then stick 100+shot on the BB and see what it does... 500hp at 5400rpm is something you can't get with a SB and surely not the torque it makes at 3k....
and yes I was concerned for the wet kit systems, like I said, for "us running wet kit".

The whole point is that I was making with a power adder instead of naturally aspirated. That was the whole point of the argument wasn't it. I will be making close to 600 if I ever get my boost pump installed.

your phrasiology made belive otherwise there big guy :)
nitrous is by far the best bang for the buck, 500 bucks and you can add 300hp...1000bucks and it's 500hp increase...
I still like blowers and would rather have a blower if money wasn't an issue...

I hear that. I just don't want to have to drive 500 miles every other weekend, and have to worry about another piece of equipment to worry about.

Ed hit my point dead on. If you drop a scuba tank the right way It can generate enough force to life a suburban 30 feet off the ground. Any gas under high pressure can easily become a concusive-explosive. No It wont generate a fireball or anything like in the movies but If that thing cooks off the blast would be incredibly powerful. And while alot of people put serious thought into where the safest place to put there tank is others just go "where can I put this giant tank of nitrous so people will see it in my car and think Im badass"

Nitrous is stored at 900 psi, A Scuba Tank is stored at 3000 psi; that's a huge difference. I have never heard of anyone getting hit and the nitrous bottle rupturing. I saw a car that had one pop because of a faulty poppet valve, and the damage wasn't that bad.

obviously I am a blower guy, but I do so love the sound of line being purged and the cool smoke screen. but more than blower whine or nitrous hiss I like high pressure turbo whistle.

I like the sound of a big ass turbo blowing off.
